What makes the world go round?

I have recently found a new love for vinyl records. I painted my apartment last week with a color I matched off of an album cover. The lady at Lowes was shocked and said, “I can’t believe they still make those!” Well lady, they do. I don’t think they ever really stopped. Well to make a long story short, since then I have been searching for some new vinyl to add to my collection and I definitely found some good covers at hort.org.uk, check ‘em out.

Inspiration-Mimi Weddell

Inspiration can come from many places. Sometimes it’s just seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. I’m ordering a copy of “Hats Off” this weekend. A documentary about a 93 year old actress/model/dancer living in New York is kind of a no brainer for great entertainment.

What’s Santa Bringin’ to Town?
I thought that it would be fun to see what the crew at Fluid wanted for Christmas this year. Take a look at our extensive list, and if you’re really feeling the holiday cheer you can get Kevin his $2000 dog speaker. Let’s get started … it’s a long list.

I picked this fancy camera from Veer. Enter the world of extreme close-ups. The only camera in the world with a built-in fisheye lens, this two-tone beauty features a sweeping 170-degree field of view. Barrel distortion compacts your photos to appear as if inside a glass ball: the center bulging larger than life, the borders wrapped to a circular edge. Each 35mm camera includes premium glass optics, built-in electronic flash powered by one “AA” battery, wrist strap, and editorial booklet.
John’s picks are:

The leg lamp from A Christmas Story & the dress shoe that was thrown at President Bush recently (up for auction on Ebay).
Kevin has the longest list but they are all really cool items and I’m sure that anyone would love them. Items are as follows; Billboard birdhouse, charging station, log bowls, nesting bowls, Pantone mugs, Phonophone II, Marg Vase, Woofer speaker set, and a desk set.

Shannon wants this vintage Presto electric egg cooker.
Megan Z is hoping for a new Sony Blue-Ray player

Matt has been watching too much TV and can’t get his mind of off this Princess Unicorn doll.

Megan Morris needs a premium Bose sound system since she is missing the bass from the subwoofer out of her old car.
Phil is looking to move shortly.
Luat is going to join him in space in his 1983 Honda Puyo.
Happy Holidays from all of us at Fluid Studio! If you have a great Holiday gift make sure and let us know by posting a comment, we’d love to see what you hope Santa brings this year.

X-mas presents for me…
Well, you could buy this for anyone on your holiday list. I came across this great book while searching through some illustration/pattern sites. Geometric from Kapitza is a resource book of geometric pattern designs. It also comes with a cd of 100 pattern fonts. Looks like a great way to spend your holiday vacation.

Direct Mail

Direct Mail is one of the many services that Fluid Studio offers – When you are looking to make a decision, here’s a few question to ask:
- When the list was last updated?
Lists should be updated monthly, quarterly (average is every six weeks.)
- Will a summary report that breaks out the counts by zip code and other information be made available to me?
- You want your lists presorted by zip codes so that you receive postage discounts.
- Is there a minimum charge for the list?
Knowing the cost of names/thousand will help you to determine the rate you are receiving.
- How many times can you use the same list?
If you need the list to be a multiple-usage list, you can expect to pay 3times more than a single usage list.
- What are my label printing options?
Laser, inkjet, dot matrix, etc.You have the option of printing directly to the direct mail piece or having labels affixed to the piece.
- Can I include a secondary message?
ie, “preferred customer”
- Will I receive a verification of mailing?
Customers should be expected to Pre-Pay postage.
A good result from a direct mailing is a return of 2-3 percent.
